As a U.S. citizen leaving in Israel, I gave birth in 2010 and received a 3-month paid maternity leave.
The money came from the National Insurance Agency (the Israeli equivalent of Social Security Admin.), and not from my employer.
On my 1040, Do I report this as wages, or as "other income"? Thanks! Hannah

My mother in law is moving in with us because she can not live alone any longer. We are providing her with a room addition for her privacy. The addition will cost 125 and she is contributing 70 of the expense. What are the tax ramifications for us in accepting her partial support on the addition?

My mother in law died in June 2011 with no assets. No estate was opened and no probate needed.
However if she didn't file taxes for 2010 and we can't find any paperwork what do we do? She was on ss disability and had no other income. I don't believe she owed any taxes for prior years or for 2010.
Not sure if we have to do anything.
I earned $2,512.00 from private housekeeping but didn't get a 1099, how can I claim this income and if I do, will the lady I cleaned for get in trouble for not giving me a 1099?
