Hi, My employer has provided me only 1 W2 for 2 states (Illinois and Texas). I submitted my tax returns with only 1 W2 and as per that I have to pay state tax of $852.00. But as per my understanding I don't have to pay any tax to state.
Please let me know if I should ask my employer to provide my corrected W2 or the W2 provided by them is correct.
Thank,
Sunil

I have considerable company paid housing expenses included on my W-2 this year. I had them last year as well but only for approx 4 months. This years expenses are line itemed as value added services. The amount is approx $60k. All my other tax issues are basically the same however my calculations are coming up that I owe $6,500 more in Federal tax than I paid last year. Is the increase in company paid expenses causing this?

So about 15 years ago, I know a long time ago. i had a girlfriend who stated she was pregnant with my baby. We stayed together for 5 months of the pregnancy. than suddenly she stated it wasn't mine and we broke up, her stating it was someone elses.
When my W2's came out that year I had a W2 with her name as her paying me $75 as income? I contacted her and she said she didnt know what it was and that was it. i have never figured this out and still have a feeling this kid may be mine even now. I was just wondering how she would end up with a W2 to me? Could this have anything to do with the child?

I only made around 6,000 at my last job can I file that with next years taxes?
Your W2 income needs to filed, or claimed, in the year it was earned. It cannot be filed with next years taxes.

Why did entering my per diem nursing job W2's eliminate my $1000 tax refund and make it so now I have to pay in almost $800? My per diem job is just two shifts at the same hospital per month, with no travelling or housing expenses are incurred.
My gross pay from job one was $43,533 with enough federal/social security/medicare taxes withheld for me to expect almost $1300 back between federal and state. But when I then entered job two (my per diem job), with gross pay of $11,923 with federal tax, social security tax, medicare tax witholdings equal to $1846, now I have to pay almost $800 dollars between federal and state.
I claim single zero for both jobs. Why did this happen? Am I filing my W4's wrong? Please help.

On my W2 it says S125 not sure what it is?
I believe S125 stands for Section 125 Plan which is for medical and dental insurance.
The Section 125 Plan provides tax savings by reducing employee medical premiums from gross salary prior to calculation of federal income and Social Security taxes, as allowed under Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 125.
The Section 125 Plan reduction does not reduce the salary on which your maximum deferral limit for the Voluntary Investment Program is calculated. The reduction does, however, lower the salary on which both Social Security and unemployment benefits are calculated.

This year I worked in two states; part of the year in MS, earning $16,400 and the other part in MD, earning $5,000. When I put that information into the Federal tax page, online, my refund amount goes down considerably.
When I remove either the MS or the MD return, it makes a significant difference. Why does entering multiple W-2s from different states make this difference to the refund? Is there a way to avoid the loss?
I have been told it's because I have a standard deduction. Should I change that?
Son worked for a company that closed down - never received W2 forms - haven't been able to reach anyone. Does not have last pay stub. Any suggestions?
I prepared my taxes electronically, but I was told that since I have more than 30 W-2Gs that I have to mail my returns, but on the tax forms it says that I need to attach my W-2Gs IF TAXES WERE WITHHELD. So does that mean I don't have to attach my W-2Gs since there were no taxes withheld? If so why do I have to mail my taxes in then? I'm confused do I or don't I have to attach my W-2Gs since no taxes were withheld?
Thanks,
JPO
I have recieved my w-2 from my previous employer that went out of business and they are trying to say I only paid in 36.00 for 11 months. I know that is wrong what should I do?
