Charitable Donations

Can I claim part of my charitable donations made in 2011 on my 2012 taxes instead of claiming all of them in 2011? I recently donated quite a few items in Kansas before relocating to Washington, and now have more donations to make in Washington. I don't want to exceed the $500 max donation amount to avoid having to file additional paperwork so want to claim the additional donations made in Washington on next year's claim.
