Age Can Affect Your Income Taxes
by: Stephanie

One way that the difference in age may have affected your income tax would be via the earned income credit.

In order to claim the earned income credit if you meet the income requirements and do not have a qualifyting child, you must be at least age 25.

So, the incorrect birth date would have put you at age 29 which could have qualified you for the credit, while your correct age of 19 disqualified you.
