My Per Diem Job W2
by Jeanette Aranda

Why did entering my per diem nursing job W2's eliminate my $1000 tax refund and make it so now I have to pay in almost $800? My per diem job is just two shifts at the same hospital per month, with no travelling or housing expenses are incurred.
My gross pay from job one was $43,533 with enough federal/social security/medicare taxes withheld for me to expect almost $1300 back between federal and state. But when I then entered job two (my per diem job), with gross pay of $11,923 with federal tax, social security tax, medicare tax witholdings equal to $1846, now I have to pay almost $800 dollars between federal and state.
I claim single zero for both jobs. Why did this happen? Am I filing my W4's wrong? Please help.
