Is my Dad's monthly check considered income to me?

I quit my job and brought my elderly dad into my home so I could take care of him. He gets a check for $3000 every month from his investment account, which he signs over to me so I can be home (not working) to take care of him. Do I report this money as income? If so, do I then claim my Dad as a dependent? This money is the only income I have.
